Winter in Delavan is in our top four seasons to enjoy (haha!), but right around the middle of March we start to get that itch for sunshine and outdoor activities. We don’t want to jinx this year, and we know we’ll probably still get some snow in April because we do live in Wisconsin, but here’s our list of things to do when spring finally hits Delavan and upcoming events (yes events are back!) to start planning a trip to Delavan.
Visit or Stay at Lake Lawn Resort for Spring Festivities
Lake Lawn Resort is one of the best place in Delavan to enjoy a relaxing vacation on Delavan Lake with a bunch of options for activities and events as well. Not only do they have an arcade for those rainier spring days when you want to stay inside, but they have an outdoor bonfire pit that is available every night at dusk, weather permitting. Check out Lake Lawn’s Spring activity schedule for more things to do when you’re planning on visiting, including an Easter Brunch on April 17th.
Plan Your Visit to Delavan for Summer Events
Wine lovers listen up! Book your stay in Delavan the weekend of May 21 for our annual Wine Walk where you can sip, stroll, and shop your way through historic Downtown Delavan while tasting a variety of regional white and red wines. Participants get a souvenir wine glass and can follow the event map and tasting passport.
And for the car lovers and history buffs out there book your rooms for our Cars Time Forgot Car Show on July 10th. With more than 1,000 show cars to check out, awards and raffles at the Lake Lawn Airport (across from beautiful Delavan Lake and Lake Lawn Resort), The Cars Time Forgot Car Show is the perfect way to spend a summer weekend.
Places to Golf in Delavan
When the warm weather hits and the greens thaw out, crews will start getting the two Delavan golf courses ready for the season. Delbrook Golf Course is an historic 27-hole public course that has been a favorite of locals and visitors since 1927. There are two courses of roughly 6,000 yards for golfer to enjoy surrounded by beautiful rural landscapes.
The second course is Majestic Oaks at Lake Lawn Resort, which first opened in 1921. The championship golf course is one of the Midwest’s premier golf courses with beautiful views of Delavan Lake on more than 250 lush, tree-lined acres. The course, which was re-engineered in 1990 by architect Dick Nugent, is best known for its stately oak trees and deep sand bunkers. Each hole has multiple tee boxes for players of all abilities.
Explore the Beautiful Blooms
One of the things we love doing at the first sign of spring is getting an ice cream and going for a walk (sometimes you gotta pretend it’s warmer than it actually is!) So, head to Patty’s Too for a couple scoops of your favorite flavor and make your way down to one of our beautiful parks. Congdon Gardens is a beautiful spot to enjoy a spring walk, featuring a trail around Congdon Pond, and seven different garden areas to explore. Tower Park is also a fun one to check out. We challenge you to try and take a selfie with the Giraffe and Elephant statues…it’s harder than it sounds! No matter which park you pick, you’ll get to explore the sights of Spring.
We’re ready for spring outdoor activities…even if we have to pretend it’s warmer than it is. We look forward to seeing you (not all bundled up in coats, hats, gloves, and scarves) this spring!
